Certificates

What are “Certificates” for?

With the “Certificate” feature, you can issue certificates that you have generated for your event to participants who have met the specified requirements.

How can I set up a certificate for my event?

Create a template

Go to Certificates in the Cockpit and click Create Template on the right-hand side.

You can then define the name of the certificate. You may want to issue multiple certificates for the same event, so this helps you keep them organized.

Next, upload a certificate template as a PDF. If you are using the Certificates feature for the first time, you can also upload a blank PDF template from your organization with your logo and edit it later in the Template Editor.

Add a credit type

You can edit your template by clicking the Edit icon on the right.

First, create a Credit Type. To do this, you need to define the following:

  • Credit Type Name, e.g. Workshop Credits
  • How many minutes are required per credit, e.g. 60 minutes
  • What percentage of the specified number of minutes must be consumed to earn a credit, e.g. 90%
  • Maximum number of credits that can be earned by attending your event, e.g. 4 credits
  • Where in the event the participant needs to be located to earn credits, e.g. the Main Stage or a specific room.

Example: You have a half-day event lasting 240 minutes, for which participants can earn a maximum of 4 credits. The first credit is awarded after 54 minutes. To earn all 4 credits, I need to attend for 216 minutes, which corresponds to 90% of the total event duration.

Edit your certificate template

Once a Credit Type has been added, you can customize the certificate template according to your preferences.

With Draw Field, you can create a text field. On the right-hand side, you can either add custom text or use Add Variable to insert placeholders that are linked to your event details.

The following placeholders can be used:

Participant Details

  • first_name: Participant's first name
  • last_name: Participant's last name
  • email: Participant's email address

Event Details

  • event_title: The title of the event
  • event_start_date: The start date of the event
  • event_end_date: The end date of the event

Certificate Details

  • certificate_id: Unique certificate identifier
  • issue_date: The date when the certificate was issued

Credit Values

  • cred_kx8d3c: Credits earned for Workshop Credits

We recommend downloading a test certificate to check how the document looks with the actual data. You can make adjustments to the fields at any time.

A quick note: If you want to make further adjustments to the PDF during the preparation process, you can upload a new version at any time to replace the current one. The fields you have already created will not be affected.

Once you have completed and saved all the settings, you can set the status to Active in the top-right corner of the Template Editor.

Edit the certificate email template

Of course, you can send the created certificates directly to participants via Veertly.

To customize the email, click Edit Certification Email. On the right-hand side, you will find various formatting elements that allow you to design the email according to your preferences and needs.

After the event

Generate certificates

After the event, you can generate certificates for all participants directly from the Cockpit by clicking Generate Event Certificates

Participants will then receive the predefined email containing a link that allows them to view and download their certificate.

Attached, you will find a basic certificate template for reference.
